 American Flyers by Steven Philip Smith, 167 pages. The book is based upon the film. Copyright date: 1985.

 

 Barnett's Manual by John Barnett 200 to 300 pages. Extremely detailed maintenance manual for all bicycles. Very liberally illustrated. Copyright date: 1989.

 

 Bicycle Gearing by Dick Marr, 156 pages. Very thorough treatise; gives both theoretical and practical thoughts. Copyright date: 1989.

 

 Bicycle Road Racing by Edward Borysewicz, 276 pages. Very thorough book. Copyright date: 1985.

 

 Bicycle Touring by the Editors of Bicycling Magazine, 92 pages. As above, a concise book. Copyright date: 1985.

 

 The Bicycle Wheel by Jobst Brandt, 150 pages. Very thorough book. I own this one myself and have used its techniques to build wheels, successfully even. I did cheat a bit, I checked out and used the new Park truing stand owned by the club. Copyright date: 1981.

 

 Bicycling the Pacific Coast by Tom Kirkendall & Vicki Spring, 254 pages. Very detailed book. 2nd Edition, copyright date: 1990.

 

 The Complete Book of Bicycling by Eugene A. Sloane, 342 pages. It is "complete". Copyright date: 1970.

 

The Complete Book of Long-Distance and Competitive Cycling by Tom Doughty, 380 pages. Seems to be correctly titled. Copyright date: 1983.

 

Effective Cycling, 6th ed. by John Forester. Also the 41 minute VHS video tape on the same subject. This is the classic reference for the course taught to people who want to know their place on the road. Copyright date 1993

 

The Long Ride by Lloyd Sumner, 223 pages. Describes the author's trip around the world on a bicycle. Copyright date: 1978.

 

 100 Hikes in the Alpine Lakes Snoqualmie Pass Stevens Pass Wenatchee Mountains by Vicki Spring, Ira Spring, & Harvey Manning, 240 pages. A detailed, non-bicycling goodie. Copyright date: 1985.

 

 The Practical Book of Bicycling by Francis Call (of the Mercer Island school system) and Merle E. Dowd, 252 pages. It covers the stated subject matter. Copyright date: 1974.

 

 SutherlandŐs Handbook for Bicycle Mechanics, 6th ed. By Howard Sutherland. Copyright date: 1995.

 

The Two-Wheeled Athlete by Ed Burke, 140 pages. Looks like a concise and thorough book. Copyright date: 1986.
